Jones, Blechman, Woltz & Kelly, P.C. began in 1905, when Allan D. Jones, who served as Assistant Attorney General for Maritime Affairs under President Franklin D. Roosevelt, began practicing law in downtown Newport News.  In 1926, he was joined by Franklin O. Blechman and, in 1932, the two attorneys formed a partnership.  The firm continued to grow with the addition of partners Arthur Woltz in 1942 and Herbert V. Kelly in 1946.

Today, JBWK combines the personality and vigor of a smaller law firm with the efficiency, resources, and quality of a larger firm.  We offer a combination of talents and services coupled with the breadth of experience our clients expect from one of the largest law firm on the Virginia Peninsula.  Our attorneys embrace a philosophy of legal practice founded upon aggressive and innovative representation, combining the lessons of experience with dynamic new approaches to legal issues.

Our founding partners established a commitment within the firm to providing excellent legal services to the Hampton Roads community, and that resolve to meet and exceed our clients’ expectations remains at the center of the firm to this day.
