BRYAN H. SCHEMPF

Biography

First licensed in Missouri in 1974, Bryan has extensive experience as a military lawyer. Upon entering private practice in 1997, he has had numerous cases at all levels in state courts throughout Hampton Roads and in the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.

His civil litigation practice has included representing plaintiffs and defendants in auto accidents, construction disputes, trusts, products liability, medical malpractice, and defamation.

He also has a busy practice in family law matters including divorce, guardianship/conservatorship, adoptions, and child custody cases.

Drawing on his government experience, he has handled Federal Tort Claims, represented service members at all levels of courts-martial and separation boards, appeared as counsel in Security Clearance Revocation Boards, and appears regularly in Federal Magistrate's Court on traffic and criminal matters that occur on federal installations.

Practice Highlights

  • Successfully represented claimant in recovering a $4.1 million settlement in a false claims ("Qui Tam") case;
  • Retained as expert witness on military procedures in Federal civil suit.
  • Retired active duty Army colonel (JAGC)
